What is Reiki?

Reiki, an ancient healing system rediscovered and formalized by Dr. Mikao Usui in the late 1800s, utilizes universal life force energy to gently restore balance and promote healing within the body. Reiki channels this vital energy—known as ki, prana, or chi in Eastern traditions—through the practitioner’s hands to the client, supporting the body’s innate ability to heal itself.

How does Reiki Work?

Entrainment is the tendency for two oscillating bodies to synchronize their vibrations. In 1665, Dutch physicist Christian Huygens observed this when he placed pendulum clocks on a wall: initially out of sync, they eventually aligned. During a Reiki session, the practitioner channels universal energy through their hands to the client. This interaction reflects entrainment, where weaker vibrations align with the stronger Reiki energy, promoting balance and well-being. The practitioner is a conduit of this universal life force energy.

What is Distance Reiki?

A Reiki practitioner is trained to channel Reiki across time and space. During a distance Reiki session, the client can relax in their own space and receive this healing energy remotely. Sessions can be conducted via Zoom or over the phone.

What can I expect to feel?

People experience Reiki differently. Some feel relaxed or sleepy, others sense warmth, tingling, or vibration. It can also release stagnant energy, bringing forward existing tension in the body. Emotional releases may occur, allowing for the processing of stored emotions. Even if sensations are subtle or not present, Reiki's intelligence addresses areas needing healing, allowing the body to tap into its innate ability to heal. After a Reiki session the body is integrating the energy received and it is important to take gentle care of yourself for a few days.
